All about DIWC

Who we are…

Dundee International Women’s Centre (DIWC) was established in 1969 as part of an Urban Aid Programme and continues to be a community organisation providing a safe, friendly, comfortable environment for the personal development of all women, regardless of race, culture, faith/belief, age, ability or sexual orientation.

What we do…

DIWC provides a wide range of social, educational, recreational and volunteering activities such as classes, training, information and advice, translation services and cultural or social events aimed at encouraging active participation, empowering women and providing a channel for their voice, in the local and wider community.

We are based in a purpose-built community centre, a 15 min walk from Dundee city centre, and are open 5 days per week from 9am - 5pm. Our staff speak 9 languages and are here to provide any support that we can.

Diversity…

DIWC has over 500 registered members representing over 80 countries of origin and 15 belief systems as well as a wide range of social backgrounds, skills, experiences and abilities. We also provide an in-house childcare service so that mums can leave their children in a safe, fun environment, while they join in DIWC activities and classes.

We make every effort to meet the needs of as many women as possible, whether it involves joining an adult learning activity, obtaining advice and information or gaining skills through volunteering. Everyone is welcome!
