Rise & Shine ‘Mission Statement’
The Rise and Shine childcare provides quality care for children aged between 0-12 years. Our team of qualified and diverse staff provide a warm, friendly, safe and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to play, learn and develop freely.
Rise and Shine Childcare is registered with the Scottish Care Commission under the regulation of care (Scotland) Act 2001.
Background
Rise and Shine Childcare is a registered service that contributes towards the Dundee International Women’s Centre’s community based social enterprise project. All our staff are committed to providing the best possible care for your child/ren and to ensure they do this, they have either achieved or are working towards meeting the requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council. Alongside this they frequently take part in childcare related knowledge and skills based training. We believe that all the knowledge and experience in the world does not compete with or measure up to the knowledge parents have about their child/ren, that’s why our staff work very closely with all parents to ensure the care they provide are meeting both parent needs and those of their child/ren.

Pre-booked childcare sessions
If your require childcare for a one off occasion or on a more regular basis you can pre book by either completing a booking form which is available at DIWC or by phoning (01382 462058). Session times are from 9am-12.30pm and 12.30pm-3pm.
Drop in Childcare service
Our drop in service provides you with the opportunity to bring your child/ren to our crèche during our opening times without prior booking, for example, if an emergency occurs and you require childcare for no more than 4 hours.
Service users creche
If you are taking part in any of the DIWC timetabled activities and require childcare you can use the Rise & Shine crèche facility. This service runs alongside all timetabled activities. A wide range of fun, challenging and stimulating activities are pre planned by our friendly and dedicated staff team.
Cost: Prices vary and depend on eligibility (can be free). Please contact DIWC for further information.
Mobile crèche service
This service provides quality crèche care for individuals, organisations and groups, who require childcare for either a one off event, for example a celebration, festival, wedding, meeting, conference etc. or over a regular period of time, for example a training course.
Our professional and friendly staff will advise you about your initial childcare request and carry out a site survey to ensure the area within the venue you have selected is suitable for childcare to commence. We help you make sure the whole event complies with the highest standards of safety based on the guidelines set out by the care commission and the H&S executive. Why not chose from a selection of extra special activities to make you crèche even more special!!
Extra special activities
We provide an array of fun activities that can be incorporated into your event. All activities are planned with your needs/request in mind. We ensure every activity engages and stimulates each child who wishes to get involved.
Children’s birthday parties
Organising a birthday party can be time consuming and stressful, not to mention noisy and messy!! That’s why Rise & Shine have a fantastic birthday party service that will take the strain from you. We believe in getting the birthday child involved from the very beginning. To do this we ask the birthday boy/girl to visit us prior to their ‘big day’ so we can show them where their party will take place and find out and what games, food, music, themes, decorations etc they want. We also provide party bags that are filled with lots of goodies as well as prizes for games.
An individual party lasts for 1 ½ hrs, we provide a wide selection of games and activities that will keep the children entertained and wanting more! We provide a hot/cold buffet, prizes and party bags. We cater for a minimum of 14 children and a maximum of 22 children. Children’s holiday playschemes
We offer a selection of fun filled activities that are available for children between the ages of 3-12 years during school holidays. A programme of activities can be obtained from Rise and Shine Childcare about 3 weeks prior to the school holidays. The programme will show what activities are planned for the following age groups 3-5 years, 5-8 years, 8-12 years. It also gives details of dates, times, costs and booking requirements.
The summer play scheme dates are available from June each year. The playscheme runs from 1:30 to 3:30pm. Please ring 01382 462058 for further details and availabilty.
Tot's Time
On Wednesday and Friday afternoons between 1pm and 3pm, there is a Tot's Time for children from 2 to 5 year olds. Costs £3-50 and has to be pre-booked. This will recommence week beginning 23rd August 2010.
