The Rise and Shine Childcare provides quality care for children aged between 0-12 years. Our team of qualified and diverse staff provides a warm, friendly, safe and stimulating environment where children are encouraged to play, learn and develop freely.
Rise and Shine Childcare is a registered service that contributes towards the Dundee International Women's Centre's community based social enterprise project. All our staff are committed to providing the best possible care for your child/ren and to ensure they do this, they have either achieved, or are working towards meeting the requirements of the Scottish Social Services Council. Alongside this, staff frequently take part in childcare related knowledge and skills based training. We believe that all the knowledge and experience in the world does not compete nor measure up to the knowledge parents have about their child/ren, That's why our staff works very closely with all parents to ensure that the care they provide is meeting the needs of both parents and their child/ren.
Rise and Shine Childcare is registered with the Scottish Care Commission under the Regulation Of Care (Scotland) Act 2001.
Registration
All parent/carers are required to complete a registration and consent form for their child/ren before participation commences. Registration forms are available at DIWC reception and Rise & Shine Childcare. They can be completed on-site or returned on start date.
Induction
We understand how difficult it can be choosing childcare that suits the needs of you and your child, and we understand how difficult it can be leaving your children in an unfamiliar environment for the first time. To make sure this experience is calming and reassuring for both mother and children we encourage all parents to join their children for the first visits- these are free of charge.
Policies and Procedures
Rise & Shine has a comprehensive set of policies and procedures and public liability insurance that meets the requirements of the Regulation of Care (Scotland) Act 2001 and Health and Safety at Work Act 1974. These are available in the creche for your information. We are regulated by the Scottish Care Commission, which makes annual spot check visits to inspect our premises and working practices. These reports are available for all parent/carers to read.
Booking/Cancellation
To ensure your child has a place at Rise & Shine Childcare it is essential that you book 48 hours in advance. This allows us adequate time to organise the required staff to child ratio as set down by the Regulation of Care Act 2001. If this is not possible, you must inform us at least 1 hour before they are due to attend the créche. If you do not follow this procedure, you shall incur a cancellation charge.
Lunch and snack
If you are using the service for more that 2 hours, you are asked to bring a healthy snack and drink for your children. If your children are staying over the lunch time period, you have the option of the DIWC in-house catering service providing a healthy hot or cold meal from our children's menu, or you can bring your own.
